Macro Photography Workshop Schedule
-
We head to a classroom within the University where Dan runs through an in-depth presentation to give you all of the knowledge you could possibly need to get started with macro photography - even experienced macro pro’s will likely pick up a few tips!
-
Working in pairs you’ll put some of the skills you’ve just learnt into practice on a range of flowers and plants in the classroom. You’ll have access to tripods, plamps, lights and macro accessories to help you hone your technique.
-
We’ll take a short break for lunch around midday where Dan can also take the time to have a look through some of your photos. We advise you bring a packed lunch as the University does not have a cafe on site.
-
You’ll get hands-on with macro kit and spend 1-2-1 time with Dan, as well as watch live demonstrations for lighting set ups and focus stacking. You’ll have time to explore the beautiful grounds of the Botanic Gardens and photograph whatever flora or fauna catches your eye. If we’re unlucky with the weather we also have a range of desert, alpine and tropical glass houses to explore.
-
We’ll head back to the classroom where Dan will take a look through your images. We’ll do a friendly competition throughout the day and the photographer of Dan’s favourite image will win a small mystery prize – no pressure, it’s just a bit of fun!
-
We’ll wrap up the workshop and you’ll head home bursting with excitement to get out capturing close-ups again. Dan hopes to have cleared up any camera questions, lighting troubles or kit enquiries you might have before the workshop is over.
